This fall at Queen’s University, 130 fourth-year chemical engineering students will undertake a project involving design and other details for a bio-refinery. Dr. Geoff Whitfield, former Chief Scientist for DuPont (Canada), is a special advisor. Support from the Ottawa Centre for Research and Innovation also continues.

The Wood Centre, with help from Queen’s University Faculty of Law consulting service, has now received its Canadian letters patent and is officially incorporated! We’re also pleased to announce that we’ve signed several Memorandum’s of Understanding along the way. MOUs are in place with La Cité collégiale, Algonquin, Loyalist and St. Lawrence Colleges. These institutions provide education, training, applied research and business expertise
that fit well with the Wood Centre.

Queen’s engineering students and advisors meet with Brian Gartley Production Manager of the GreenField Ethanol Plant at Johnstown on the OEWC site. TEAM is utilizing Moxy Knowledge Management for facilitating their project. The plant is now successfully operating at 110% of capacity and is currently researching cellulosic ethanol at their Chatham location.
